Understand through Compassion or Misunderstand the Times

compassion 1This is the 4th Sutra for our age. If you truly work on developing compassion as a virtue you can clear up a lot of your relationship problems.

The mind and ego cannot understand compassion, it is word, a mental concepts. The mind and ego are all about keeping us separate from each other, finding the difference not the similarity. It is like trying to understand water by just looking at a blue sea, you need to dive in and feel water to understand its special quality. The heart brain feels compassion. We are going through testing times and our spiritual lesson is to know that all humanity is connected as one. Your heart brain will recognise this as a truth. You feel included when someone talks from the heart, smiles at your from their heart.

In fact compassion starts at home. You are doing your best in every situation so feel compassion for yourself. NOT SYMPATHY, but compassionate understanding, instead of being self-critical and hard on yourself, which is our internal dialog.

We all wear masks, but if you look beyond a person’s mask you will see that everyone is trying their best, on the level of consciousness they are at. We need to look at people not just with our eyes but feel them with our hearts. This is hard because in order to do that we need to feel our own pain, that is why it is so challenging to live from the heart. Pain of the human condition makes us feel separate and afraid of one another. We feel alone and disconnected from our divine source. We even fear our emotions. We have to allow ourselves to feels these emotions, accept them in with non-judgemental awareness. This can range from acknowledging ‘tightness in the chest’ or ‘increases in heart rate’ as well as the thought content and emotions that arise. During mindfulness or meditation difficult emotions that may arise become paired with a compassionate and accepting attitude, which may gradually extinguish the fear of experiencing the emotions and any related thoughts. We relate to the experience of pain, fear, loss, etc. as they are, which are changeable and transient states of being, and that they are not characteristic of absolute reality. This may lead to increased cognitive flexibility  reflecting consciously choosing mental content to identify with, rather than habitually responding to provocative external events.

When you are out tonight or tomorrow make eye contact with people, smile from your heart. You will make that person’s day, maybe even their life because when they see you smiling from your heart this makes them remember their identity on a subliminal level. Inside them there will be sign of relief, and they will be divinely guided. We bring heaven down to earth by lighting up one person at a time.

Meditation – Quick Heart Opener

Sit in a comfortable crossed legged position or in a chair. Close your eyes and focus on the tip of your nose. Inhale through a whistle breath, exhale LA. Continue for at least 3 mins. To end inhale deeply hold and relax.

Destress Kundalini Yoga

anti stress yogaWhat is Stress?

Stress is not an illness. It is a sign of distress. Stress is the pressure that life exerts on you, the Allostatic load and the way this pressure makes you feel. Stress will distort you if your body and mind cannot handle it or you will adjust and stretch to accommodate it. Stress is universal, in fact we need a certain amount of stress in our lives to help us change and grow.

What is Negative/Toxic Stress?

Stress becomes negative when it is accompanied by fear or other enduring emotional responses. Chronic stress develops and if we do not learn to control and redirect our emotional response, we suffer and create our own problems.

Stress Factors in Life. Tick the ones that effect you?

  • Physical Pain or Chronic health problems
  • Difficulty Sleeping
  • Worry, anxiety and/or over thinking
  • Over eating or Undereating
  • Personality changes in stressful situations (STRESS PERSONALITY)
  • Information overload and scattered attention
  • Irritation, short temper, inner anger
  • During this course we will provide you with tools and techniques to recognise when you are suffering from negative stress. What your stress monster personality is and how to cope with it. How to increase vitality. How to develop good relaxation techniques. This week we will work on reducing body blocks that hold your physical body in patterns of pain. By making the physical body more relaxed, stretched and comfortable, we can unleash a dam of vitality which is innate in you.
  • Homework
  • Also to spend 5 mins quietly colouring in your relaxation art work, in a quiet comfortable place.  After class this week you are to practice one or both of the SLEEP TIPS, either shoulder stand or stretching your feet towards you on SAT and pointing your toes on NAM 3-5mins.

Take the Pressure off – Kundalini Yoga

12096555_395166917356978_4905646554773778319_nThe 3rd Sutra is simple and clear—when you have a deadline and feel the pressure of getting a project done, the way to release the pressure is to simply begin. If you know what your first step is, just do it!

This expansion of consciousness is pressurizing you to change, grow, and evolve on your soul’s journey. It is foolish to hold back this process with procrastination. In truth, we all know within our deepest selves what changes need to be made.

But often we dread and/or procrastinate starting (or completing) tasks and projects. We experience this in a variety of situations—mundane, like cleaning your house; practical, like organizing a project at work; or personal, like starting a sadhana or doing that new hobby you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t.

The first thing to ask is, “What is keeping me from starting?” Each person needs to look within to find their unique issue that is preventing forward momentum.

What is causing the pressure we feel?

  • Worry and stress about ‘what if’ scenarios will only lead to more suffering and paralysis. This is the mind’s play and you’ll end up like a dog chasing its tail.
  • Do we have expectations of ourselves and the situation outcome?
  • Do we think we should do, be, think something that we aren’t?
  • Are we multitasking too much in life and feeling overwhelmed?

There are so many answers, and the question requires you to get to a neutral mind so you can hear the wisdom of your own soul telling you how to heal the blocks, and how to move forward.

When we can experience our true self and maintain a strong relationship with our soul, we live beyond the constraints of time and space. We know our true direction, and can let go of fear.

“You are only free when you are above time and space. When you are afraid, ‘What will happen tomorrow?’ you are not living, you are just dragging. Spirit is above time and space.” -Yogi Bhajan, 7/29/78

Once we are in alignment with our truth, we can begin to initiate change. Using the technology of Kundalini Yoga, we can begin to manifest and sustain new endeavours, no matter how large or small.

“This technology is fundamental to the physiology and consciousness of human beings everywhere. Understanding and practicing the technology of spirituality on a daily basis results in alignment, balance, focus, harmony and the ability to function successfully under the pressures of time and space. It is now time that we must learn the way to be happy and to thrive under these new elevated levels of pressure.” -Excerpt from a paper read at a lecture by Yogi Bhajan on 7/27/99

This mantra brings stability to the hemispheres of the brain and works on the Heart Centre to develop compassion, patience and tolerance, uniting one with the Infinite. It is noted for the capacity to break through deep-seated blocks.

Meditation with the Guru Gaitri Mantra

Posture: Sit in Easy Pose with a straight spine.

Focus: Eyes are closed.

Mantra: Gobinday, Mukanday, Udaaray, Apaaray, Hariang, Kariang, Nirnaamay, Akaamay

Chant and focus on the sound.

Time: Continue for 11 minutes.

Translation: Sustainer, Liberator, Enlightener, Infinite, Destroyer, Creator, Nameless, Desireless

The brain has the capacity to automatically pick it up. These words existed before any language existed. Rhythm mantras are meant to pick you up into the ether. This is one mantra in the world which balances the ether and the Earth.

You can sing it anyway. You can sing it driving, sitting, eating, sleeping; it doesn’t matter. Whenever you utter it, all facets of God will be right in you. Now, when you will do this, after a while you will start seeing lots of things. You will say something and it will happen; don’t worry. Just keep on doing it.

Life is a living experience between the finite and Infinity.
