Eliminate your Imaged Disabilities – Kundalini Yoga and meditation all week

When you wake up in the morning or last thing before you go to bed, what are the quality of your thoughts? Tonight, and tomorrow morning write your thoughts down, do not edit the thought stream, just write down what you mind is chewing over.

Most of the time our thought process is negative, complaining, worrying. We did not get enough sleep or good quality sleep, our partner snored, or is on their iPad first thing in the morning. We do not feel we are getting enough love, prosperity, attention from our family and friends. It can be an endless list. We have touched on this subject before, when uncontrolled our negative, protective mind tends to take over the helm. It is the negative  mind that dominates when we are unconscious and living automatically, as it is the first, strongest and automatic mind. These perceived or imaged disabilities can lead us to believe our lives are blighted or we are unlucky. Other people have it easier. These sentiments can turn into resentment and hate. The world order appears to be in this state at present. What we need to realise is that, this mental processing is draining us. The mind makes us feel guilty if we spend time enjoying ourselves or taking care of our needs. The mind is so busy judging the world around us and others that unknowingly it turns this same critical eye inwards and we always come up short or lacking.

Yogi Bhajan said, “Every disability is imaged, every achievement is an experience”. Can we try and practice that? No blame nor claim. No problem, literally as we are equal to every challenge we are faced with.

This week’s challenge is to spend 24 hours without having one negative thought or one negative word. If you start to think or say anything negative you start the 24 hours again. Let’s train our negative mind to be our servant and not our master. To have happier, compassionate and more flourishing life.

Isaac Newton 3rd Universal Law – Kundalini Yoga 6.15-7.15pm Nov 21st

When I first discovered Kundalini Yoga in Quito, Ecuador around April 2002, I fell in love! Not consciously but unconsciously. Something felt familiar and wonderful about this bizarre practice which was nothing like any other type of yoga I had practiced before. But it also made me start feeling, all feelings not just good ones. Suddenly I became aware of the underlying anxiety I felt, this anxious feeling I still get that I am not good enough, do not work hard enough are inherently lazy… etc. I had left a highly pressured, stressful dream job as a human rights lawyer working under the most talented, fearless female lawyer Louise Christian to suddenly become a housewife in a strange country where I could not even speak the language, it was perfect. I had stepped out a comfort zone into a completely new world just to realise that all my anxiety was not created by my work but by my untrained brain.

During my 2 wonderful years in Ecuador my heart opened, soul soared like a Condor, but sometimes I felt I was making no progress at all, 3 steps forward, 2 steps back. I was still me, I still got angry, sad, worried etc. I thought yoga would make all that go away and I would live in a blissful bubble a bit like the fantasy books I read. But once this expectation for a perfect life and perfect new Fiona faded the real beauty of life with all its up and down started to be experienced.

I have also become conscious over the years that misery can also be comforting. We do not realise that when we are sick or worried and we tell our loved ones, we get sympathy. We are addicted to this sympathy because it makes us feel understood, valued, loved as oppose to being strong and always great, then we are looked up to for guidance, we must be the light and this scares us. We are more scared of our greatness than our weakness. Close your eyes an image you without any of your imaged disabilities, may they be physical back pain or emotional pain. What would that all powerful you look like, how would you deal with problems, if you feel you can always find the solutions?

Isaac Newton’s third Universal law states, “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.” Remember this in your needy, anxiety, feeling low or down moment. We can start to know intellectually and feel consciously that if I am sick in this moment there also exists the opposite which is healing. I just have to redirect my energy and thoughts from the concentration on sickness to habits and thoughts about healing. Now is not the time for why has this happened to me? I had an important day and needed to finish my list. Now is a time for surrender and redirection, super consciousness.

530-quotes-150x150

Einstein said “Imagination today is reality tomorrow”. So let’s not get caught up in the general malaise of Brexit, Trumps victory, the state of the Environment, or why is the world going to hell? Let’s focus those strong emotions of angry, rage and redirect them into being more determined to do a physical practice every day, start learning something new, start to meditate or increase our meditation practice, kick the inner lazy voice and wake up 10 mins early to feel grateful for the day, grateful for our breath and do something to increase our immune system (3mins breath of fire – obviously not on your moon cycle) as well as being kinder to all around us.

Once you feel the path going backwards, do not continue to let despondency occupy your mental space with its repetitive story either in your head or as you repeat it to get sympathy from you friends. For this will occupy the space needed to find the solution the healing in any situation. Become the change you want to see and by your actions not your words others including family members will start following your lead. Because at this time we do not need someone to tell us what to do, we need to be shown by example what the lightness of being looks like. Then the third law of equal and opposites will take over and tip the balance away from tragedies to levity.

Sound Guru- learn to redirect your mind and solve your problems – 14 Nov 6.15-7.45pm Kundalini Yoga and Gong bath

gurunanak_-_sewa_singhThe nature of Vibration

Every element of the Universe is in a constant state of vibration manifested to us as light, sound, and energy. The human senses perceive only a fraction of the infinite range of vibration, so it is difficult to comprehend that sound and vibration underlies and sustains all creation.

What is Naad and Sound Current?

Naad means “the essence of all sound.” Naad is the universal code behind language and therefore behind human communication.

The sound current or Shabad is the frequency that can dissolve your personality and mind patterns so you are left in your elemental pure state.

The Shabad Guru, (Shabad- sound current and Guru -teacher)  the sound that is the teacher, is the quantum technology developed and given to us by the enlightened master Guru Nanak which directly alters our consciousness through the power of the Naad removing the constrictions and distortions of the ego.

Guru Nanak was born on 14 November 1469 into a relatively high caste Hindu family. At a very young age, he began questioning everything: the empty rituals that seemed meaningless; the arbitrary division of people based on caste; the lower status of women. He studied with yogis, scholars and developed a very high level of consciousness.

During an enlightenment experience he bought a new quantum technology to humanity. He realised that by using the sound current you could reach altered states of mind and enlightenment, i.e. to experience the finite you and the infinite you at the same time. He recorded his experiences in the Song of the Soul, Japji.

Practical

If I had a traumatic event that happened 10 years ago but I am now pulling that event into the present moment because I do not know how to control my mind, I can become easily manipulated by outside events. When my mind is constantly anaylsing the events of 10 years ago I am filling up my electromagnetic field with these thought currents. My electromagnetic field now begins to broadcast these thoughts out, sending me more of the same problems, a catch 22 loop. What I need to do is move beyond this event. I do this by using the quantum technology of sound to redirect my mind to be in a better state of awareness.

Reciting Japji and other Shabad sounds over time redirects the mind. The mind is going to go where you point it. So when we use the science of naad we are using our mind in an intelligent way. It helps us deal with our mental problems and projections by directing our mind into the neutral space. (Please see last week’s blog 7.11.2016 on neutral mind). Kundalini yogic science is a transportation system which enables you to view your problems from a different perspective, (the perspective of the neutral mind) that can allow you to drop problems out of your awareness instead of getting stuck in an analytical fog.

For example, reciting a Shabad mantra like SA, TA, NA, MA or listening to the Gong will redirect the mind to change its elemental perception of what it is focusing on.

    • Instead of my problems suddenly my mind is filled with this sound, rhythm and momentum which creates a physical chemical change in my perception.
  • Through Naad yoga, using our lips, moving our tongue to hit certain meridian points in our upper pallet, we can alter consciousness by changing the chemical composition of the fluids and neurochemicals in the brain.

It moves me into a different state of awareness where I can deal with my problems by dropping them out of my awareness. Problems fade as you move past them and move to a different space of awareness.

I am GREAT, no matter what I feel – 6.15-7.30pm Mon 7 Nov Prana Lounge

i_am_logo

There are days when I wake up for my early morning practice and classes feeling terrible. It could have been a bad night’s sleep, my physical body feeling off, mental complaints about the oil pulling and cold shower I need to take before I start the practice, a weird dream or all the above. When I experience life through my feelings, (tamas guna) and my minds genetic or intellectual memory, even other people thoughts (rajastic guna) the sensory information and loud mental chatter can be overwhelming. Is goes like this I feel…… I think, I feel like…..etc.

Just because your feelings and mind are the loudest sound in your awareness, does not mean this is the only way to process information coming into your consciousness. Once again the negative mind has been alerted to danger and it is, trying to protect you, with doubt, worry, fear and concern. This processing will keep me physically safe but also narrow my experience and prevent me from experiencing joy and the glory of existence.

We were born into this physical experience to experience our glory. The other way of processing information is to open your system to the Universal mind (Chita) opening your intuition, to gain access to the map of your destiny.   We get confused between intuition and our feelings. Most of us think we are accessing our intuition but really we are just accessing our feelings which we then support with argumentative thought. The reality is we do not want to be outstanding because this makes us stand out and we feel we will be the subject of ridicule or attack. You need to do something with yourself to stand out so you do not compete, compare and compute. If you are competing, comparing or computing you are trying to fit in with the outside world. We are always seeing ourselves through the eyes of others.

I still worry to a smaller and smaller extent what others think of me but I know this is not the only way to perceive reality. I guarantee to myself I am not going to be contained by the mirror of someone else’s external view of me. Let’s try on not play to the audience, a lot of our mental energy goes into determining how you look to others. You are catching lots of subtle signals about how accepted you are by the way other people act and speak to you.

What if there was no other to get an opinion about yourself from, no mirror? How would that look and feel for you? If would be completely freeing. Allow yourself to be YOU do not let anyone or anything shut that down.

Yogi Bhajan said he has never seen birds in a tree singing the dawn chorus and then turning around to each other to ask, “how did I do?” They are also social animals like us.

Your point is not even to influence the majority, your point is to be you, there is no one in this moment who will ever be like you, ever again in infinity.

In order to stop people shutting you down or you shutting down because of other people’s opinions, you have to wake up every day and practice positive mental reinforcements and decide to be confident in you. You stretch into your body glove to feel you, you feel your breath, your sound and tell yourself you are gorgeous. Remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder so if you want to see beauty, your judgement needs to be that everything is beautiful. See everything as beautiful because it is just an opinion. Why do we not see beauty in everything, because our negative mind is looking for danger to protect us. We got this idea from millions of years ago, because if we saw everything as beautiful we would feel too uplifted and not see the danger. We no longer need to be that worried. So, say to yourself, “I am Great, MY body may be tired, MY mind may be fearful, feeling lonely, but I am always great. If you change your internal conversation enough to see beauty in everything and say to yourself I am great. Very soon you will be. When you can uplift yourself never mind the mood, you will be able to uplift all around you and then you start feeling really great as well as being great. There will be days where you cannot bring yourself to uplift yourself or anyone else, forgive yourself and move on. Guilt is a form of protection which blunts the lessons we are being given, if you let guilt rule, you will not move forward.
