Negative Thoughts our and others how do we cope with them? Kundalini yoga and meditation 6.15-7.30pm Mon 17 Oct @ Prana Lounge

images8icqvpv9When I was younger I felt a little superior as I thought I was such a happy and positive person and got upset when someone said anything negative or critical.

I have now come to understand what the negative mind is and how it works. We all have 3 functional minds the negative mind being the first one and the strongest. It is the strongest because it is the protective mind, your alarm system. Its value is that it warns you of danger or if you will be at a disadvantage. If the negative mind had not been strong in ancient times your genetic line would not have survived to produce YOU.  But when we let our negative mind get too strong it can make our life a living hell. We see danger everywhere instead of opportunity or choice.

The second functional mind is the positive mind. It is expansive and sees the gain or advantage in any situation. The third mind, the neutral mind is not scared by the negative mind or fooled by the wishful thinking of the positive mind. It is conscious and wise giving you the solution that you can trust, that has your best interests at heart.

So we should be aware of what the negative mind says, but use the other 2 minds to assess it, in order to decide if the treat is real or perceived.

Last week I was at Borderlands in Kitual Gala and went river cannoning, which entails climbing, sliding and jumping down a river. Many times my negative mind became so strong, I could feel my heartbeat, fear made everything around me come into intense focus. I could see light glinting off the beautiful butterfly, the sound of the river pounding the rocks, the intense green of the trees around me. But I let my other minds tell me that the risk of injury was very small, that jumping from 15ft into a beautiful pool was fun and the risk was not real only perceived.

Practical

Now we have understood our own negative thought process, lets deal with external negativity. It is easy to feel that other people are ruining your mood because of their thoughts, words and actions. Other people can put your plans down, tell you, you can never achieve your dreams, or just moan or complain. This can dissolve your good mood.

1.Always Ask Why do I react to this?

But is it our reaction to that person or situation that really kills the good mood. It is much easier to go off and live on your own in a cave and practice a yogic lifestyle and philosophy, but if you want to live in this practical world and be a yogi you have to deal with all the normal challenges and work on yourself internally to transform reactions to other people’s negativity. Ask yourself the questions, “What is it in me that reacts to someone else’s negative words, actions?” Is it a reflection of some subconscious fears, negativity, etc. that you have not acknowledged and dealt with yet? Instead of blaming the other it is much more productive to look within.

2.Non judgmental

As yogis we do not learn yoga to feel superior to others, above all of these human emotions, instead we allow it to makes us REAL, approachable, fearless to discover all our shadows and shine our conscious awareness on them.   This all sounds easy to do but it takes patience, time and practice.

3. Work on your Aura

imageslqbqoi38

3 mins of breath of fire per day will help increase the strength and power of your electromagnetic field or aura. Your aura protects you from negativity, internally within yourself and externally. The stronger the aura the less you feel the effect of outside lower energy frequencies, whether it be people or places. There are many other practices to increase your aura, the cold shower ishnaan, wearing white or a light colour made of natural material, yoga especially for the electromagnetic field.

4. Lead by Example

People who practice yoga know the magic it creates in our lives. If yoga has allowed you to have a more positive outlook on life, share that with the negative people in your life. Do not preach, but bring in inspirational stories into your conversation. When someone wants to gossip, say plainly that I do not feel comfortable talking about that person. Explain to them how you’ve been able to see the good in things and how this has made all things in life more enjoyable. By giving them tools to change rather than isolating or attacking them, you are helping them to change on their own.

Resonate with Mother Earth – 6-7.30pm Mon 4 April @Prana Lounge, Col 7

The earth is resonating at 7.83 Hz per second, this is a very special frequency. It is the same frequency as when the brain slows down to a Theta wave, which corresponds to us feeling relaxed, happy and joyful. The German physicist Professor W.O.Schumann of the Technical University of Munich discovered that there are electromagnetic standing waves in the atmosphere, within the cavity formed by the surface of the earth and the ionosphere. The earth’s electromagnetic frequency is called The Schumann resonance. Now you are thinking why I am blogging about electromagnetics again? Well, because it is so important to understand our physical, emotional and mental wellbeing is interdependent on electromagnetics.

maxresdefault

In fact, the physical condition of early astronauts deteriorated severely while in outer space because they were away from the earth’s magnetic field and resonance. The problem was solved by introducing the ‘Schumann Simulator’ into all space shuttles, a magnetic pulse generator mimicking the Earth’s frequency. This demonstrates the simple fact that we cannot be healthy if disconnected from the natural biological frequency of the earth.

The Practice

We need to chant, sing, hum, listen to gong, crystal bells, white noise, breathe deeply and meditate, every day to change the frequency of our brain to resonate with mother earth. Spend time walking barefoot on grass, on the beach, etc. and just feeling yourself connect with Earth this most elemental force.  We will be chanting RA, MA, DA, SA, SA, SAY, SO HUNG. (Sun, Moon, Earth, Breath, Breath, Breath, I am thou) in a circle for 11mins visualising the earth and sending healing to our Mother as she heals and protects us in return.

Make Your Presence Work

Be present, this has become a buzz word from Kung fu Panda to corporate lingo. But how can you be present? Is it intense concentration or a blank mind? Eckhart Tolle gives the best description about presence.

imagesAPDAVQC3

“When you are present, when your attention is fully and intensely in the Now, Being can be felt, but it can never be understood mentally. ”Eckhart Tolle

For me being present is not a continuous state that you get to, in order to get back to presence, I bring my attention back to my heart and breath. In that moment I can feel the energy of life pulsating through my body and I am aware of existence through my feelings, including discomfort. We have a tendency to allow our mind to drift and then we fall out of presence and into a blue print of how life is. Our brain has evolved over time to recognize patterns and to try and predict what’s going to happen next from those patterns. Our neural pathways search for predictability and security. Our default position could be either negative, positive or neutral. But when we move away from doing a task in a robotic or automatic manner and apply our full awareness our presence to it, it allows us to respond from a place of being fully in the moment, fully present to the solution, where there is only a problem. At other times we are driven to rediscover and get back to presence—usually as a result of an unpleasant circumstance. This sometimes happens when success gives way to depression or boredom; when we experience an inexplicable, gradual drift from the sense of meaning in what we do; when a major transition upsets our life—by change of job, residence, marriage, death, war, or disaster; or when we are pressed by our own natural cycles of maturation to re-evaluate what, how, and why we do things.

During these times try out these exercises:

  • Put aside your expectations and replace them with a neutral anticipation and childlike curiosity
  • Put aside your judgments of good and bad and dwell in gratitude with what is real and now.
  • Put aside beliefs and imprints from others and claim the beliefs that are authentic to your heart, soul, and experience
  • Put aside your doubts and see your talents and gifts—emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially.
  • Put aside the constant whir of your life for the stillness and intuitive sensitivity of your consciousness

In this way, the pattern of your life and the direction of your purpose will stand in this present moment and through every moment of your life just as the pull of the current shapes the form of a river.

How to increase your presence?

Give yourself markers during the day, maybe before each meal, you can take 30 seconds to feel present and grateful. First thing in the morning and last thing at night. Make bringing presence into your life your priority every day, this may include doing a daily yoga and meditation practice, being present when exercising, walking or even typing on your computer.

The Yogic Science of Thought

20130910-123522.jpg

Studies on the brain show that when a thought wave is created, it is a weak, dim signal. For many years it was believed that thoughts only had influence on our own brain.

Subsequently they have discovered even though each one of our thoughts is a weak signal, it has the ability to immediately attached on to our electromagnetic field.

Electromagnetic fields hold information. That is how information is recorded on a computer hard drive. It is also how we use to record programs on magnetic tape. It is all done by electromagnetics. So after you drop your body (die) all that is left is an electromagnetic field with the recording of all the thoughts, emotions and experiences you have had.

When our electromagnetic fields come into contact with another electromagnetic field (if you are not sensitive enough) you will not know if you are having your own thoughts or those of your neighbours. Our thoughts can affect other people. Most of the time our thoughts are so dispersed that they are very ineffective. But when we focus like during prayer or focussed visualisation it allows a thought to fully permeate our electromagnetic field which allows us to influence the electromagnetic fields of others. When you have a thought about someone it is a bit like phoning their mobile number, we are connecting to their electromagnetic field. Einstein also discovered that no matter how many millions of miles you put between 2 electrons they will still mimic each other. Send me a good thought and I will receive it.  When I see the beauty in someone, that thought of beauty is going to permeate my aura making me seem beautiful to others, even if I have lots of other faults.

When you chant during class, you are sending a message to your electromagnetic field to connect with your infinite generic identity, the infinite electromagnetic field or as we say the higher self. Imaging done on the electromagnetic field after singing and chanting show it glowing. Loose yourself in mantra or uplifting music and your electromagnetic fields gets saturated with those high vibrations and suddenly you are feeling amazing and so is everyone else around you. This is why the Dervish whirl, with their heads tipped to one side to recycle the kundalini energy that is following through their bodies.

Practical Lesson

Next time you are in mental dis ease whether it was triggered by someone or an event, cut through it by getting lost in a positive mantra. When a lot of negative thoughts come to you like this: (-). Cut it in the center, what does it become? Positive: (+). So we pick up one mantra which is a positive sound thought and repeat it until the minus becomes a plus. Try the Om Namo Guru Dev Namo mantra by Snatam Kaur Khalsa, I will post it on our facebook page this week. Start living your life through a conscious decision to understand your mind.

Understanding Your LEVEL of Consciousness

Man-cons-200-x-200-raising

Understanding the study carried out by Dr. David R. Hawkins, MD, PhD

Each level of consciousness coincides with determinable human behaviours and perceptions about life and God. Each level represents a corresponding attractor field of varying strength that exists beyond our three-dimensional reality. There’s a critical point within each level from which its field gravitates (or entrains).  The numbers on the scale represent logarithmic calibrations (measurable vibratory frequencies on a scale which increases to the tenth power) of the levels of human consciousness and its corresponding level of reality. The numbers themselves are arbitrary; the significance lies in the relationship of one number (or level) to another.
consciousness 1

Overview Dr. Hawkins points out that the two greatest spiritual growth barriers seem to be at level 200 and 500. Two hundred, the level of courage, represents a profound shift from destructive and harmful behavior to life-promoting and integrous lifestyles; everything below 200 makes one go weak using kinesiology. Currently, approximately 78% of the world’s population is below this significant level. The destructive capacity of this majority drags down all of mankind without the counterbalancing effect of the 22% above 200. Because the scale of consciousness is logarithmic, each incremental point represents a giant leap in power. As such, one person calibrated at 600 counterbalances the negativity of 10 million people below 200. The second great barrier is level 500, or Love. Love in this context is a way of being in the world. According to Dr. Hawkins, the reason the level of love is so difficult to achieve is because our ego is so rooted in the physical domain as opposed to the spiritual domain, which emerges at 500.  The 500s represent a very difficult hurdle, as only four percent of the world’s population calibrates in the 500s. This level denotes a shift from the linear, provable domain (classic physics or Newtonian physics) to the nonlinear, formless, spiritual realm.  The 400s represent the level of reason, guided by the linear, mechanistic world of form. Interestingly, the top echelon of intellectual genius, including Einstein, Freud, Newton, Aristotle, etc., all calibrated around 499. (note from Martha: My energy system puts Aristotle in Love and Einstein in Joy.) A person’s level of consciousness remains rather steady through the lifetime. Emotions come and go like the passing wind, but a person’s calibratable level is governed by specific energy fields in the nonlinear domain which generally doesn’t waver. Over the course of a lifetime, the average person’s level will change approximately five points (this is not a statistical derivation, but an average discovered through Dr. Hawkins’ kinesiologic research). However, it is possible for an individual (such as a spiritual aspirant) to have his or her level of consciousness jump (or drop) hundreds of points in a single lifetime.

The Levels Described:

Enlightenment 700-1000
This is the highest level of human consciousness where one has become like God. Many see this as Christ, Buddha, or Krishna. These are those who have influenced all of mankind.

Peace 600-700
Peace is achieved after a life of complete surrender to the Creator. It is where you have transcended all and have entered that place that Hawkins calls illumination. Here, a stillness and silence of mind is achieved, allowing for constant revelation. Only 1 in 10 million (that’s .00001 percent) people will arrive at this level.

Joy 540-600
This is the level of saints and advanced spiritual people. As love becomes more unconditional, there follows a constant accompaniment of true happiness. No personal tragedy or world event could ever shake someone living at this level of consciousness. They seem to inspire and lift all those who come in contact with them. Your life is now in complete harmony with the will of Divinity and the fruits of that harmony are expressed in your joy.

Love 500-540
Only if, in the level of Reason, you start to see yourself as a potential for the greater good of mankind, will you have enough power to enter here. Here is where you start applying what was learned in your reasoning and you let the heart take over rather than the mind – you live by intuition. This is the level of charity – a selfless love that has no desire except for the welfare of those around them. Ghandi and Mother Theresa are examples of people who were living at this level. Only 0.4 percent of the world will ever reach it.

Reason 400-500
The level of science, medicine, and a desire for knowledge. Your thirst for knowledge becomes insatiable. You don’t waste time in activities that do not provide educational value. You begin to categorize all of life and its experiences into proofs, postulates, and theories. The failure of this level is you cannot seem to separate the subjective from the objective, and because of that, you tend to miss the point. You fail to see the forest because you’re tunnel-visioned on the trees. Paradoxically, Reason can become a stumbling block for further progressions of consciousness.

Acceptance 350-400
If Courage is the realization that you are the source of your life’s experiences, then it is here where you become the creator of them. Combined with the skills learned in the Willingness phase, you begin to awaken your potential through action. Here’s where you begin to set and achieve goals and to actively push yourself beyond your previous limitations. Up to this point you’ve been generally reactive to what life throws at you. Here’s where you turn that around, take control, and become proactive.

Willingness 310-350
Those people around you that are perpetual optimists – this is their level of consciousness. Seeing life as one big possibility is the cornerstone of those operating here. No longer are you satisfied with complacency – you strive to do your best at whatever task you’ve undertaken. You begin to develop self-discipline and willpower and learn the importance of sticking to a task till the end.

Neutrality 250-310
Neutrality is the level of flexibility. To be neutral, you are, for the most part, unattached to outcomes. At this level, you are satisfied with your current life situation and tend not to have a lot of motivation towards self improvement or excellence in your career. You realize the possibilities but don’t make the sacrifices required to reach a higher level.

Courage 200-250
This is the level of empowerment. It is the first level where you are not taking life energy from those around you. Courage is where you see that you don’t need to be tossed to and fro by your external conditions. This empowerment leads you to the realization that you are a steward unto yourself, and that you alone are in charge of your own growth and success. This is what makes you inherently human: the realization that there is a gap between stimulus and response and that you have the potential to choose how to respond.

Pride 175-200
According to Hawkins, since the majority of people are below this point, this is the level that most people aspire to. It makes up a good deal of Hollywood. In comparison to Shame and Guilt, one begins to feel positive here. However, it’s a false positive. It’s dependent upon external conditions such as wealth, position or power. It is also the source of racism, nationalism, and religious fanaticism.

Anger 150-175
As one moves out of Apathy to Grief and then out of Fear, they begin to want. Desire which is not fulfilled leads to frustration which brings us to Anger. This anger can cause us to move out of this level or keep us here.

Desire 125-150
Desire is a major motivator for much of our society. Although desire can be an impetus for change, the downside is that it leads to enslavement to ones appetites. This is the level of addiction to such things as sex, money, prestige, or power.

Fear 100-125
People living under dictatorship rule or those involved in an abusive relationship find themselves at this level. There is a sense of paranoia here, where you think everyone is out to get you. Suspicion and defensiveness are common.

Grief 75-100
Many of us have felt this at times of tragedy in our lives. However, having this as your primary level of consciousness, you live a life of constant regret and remorse. This is the level where you feel all your opportunities have passed you by. You ultimately feel you are a failure.

Apathy 50-75
The level of hopelessness and despair; this is the common consciousness found among those who are homeless or living in poverty. At this level, one has abdicated themselves to their current situation and feels numb to life around them.

Guilt 30-50
Not too far from shame is the level of guilt. When one is stuck in this level, feelings of worthlessness and an inability to forgive oneself are common.

Shame – below 30
At this level, the primary emotion one feels is humiliation. It is where most thoughts of suicide are found. Those who suffer from sexual abuse are often found here.

Note from Martha:
The Hawkins scale is arbitrarily from 1-1000. The key level of 200 corresponds to 40 megahertz. We like to keep ourselves clean of energies below 40 mhz. as well as any higher-vibrating energies or resonances that are contributing to physical or emotional grief.
