Workshop on Pranic Healing with Tonie Nooyens
Purifying the Subtle Energies Flows
9am-12.30pm

During this workshop we will focus on the subtle energy “Prana” that flows through us: through our body, our mind and our thoughts. The focus will be sound and mantra to project our thoughts outward and inward, to remove blockages, to purify inner and outer energy, and heal imbalances, taking us into a state of physical and mental balance and well-being, taking away the roots of stress and depression.

How to Play Gong Workshop with Tonie Nooyens
2-4.30pm

A yoga and meditation workshop focusing on the use of sound as part of our yoga and meditation practice. During this workshop we will practice breathing and silent meditation, and we will use mantra as a tool to transform disturbing thought patterns. We will go through a gentle sequence of breathing, yoga and meditation exercises to prepare ourselves for deep healing through the vibration of the gong.

This workshop includes brief explanations on the working of sound, the practice of mantra and on playing the gong.
Silent meditation is effective to get to know yourself, but mantra meditation can break through deep rooted thought patterns…

The sound of the gong creates deep relaxation, releasing us from the torrent of thoughts, removing blocks, reducing tension, and re-arranging our emotional energy and feelings…

Value Your Breath – Breathe Consciously Kundalini Yoga Mon 9 Oct, 6.15-7.30pm @ Prana Lounge

Last week we were appreciating everything in our lives even our misery. But the simplest thing in the world can help us through the darkest situation and that is our very undervalued breath. Just because we breath automatically we take our breath for granted. However you would not last 5 minutes without this precious resource, literally the world hangs on your every breath.

Just because we are born with this automatic breathing response that keeps us alive, I personally do not just want to survive, I want to thrive!

That is why in Kundalini yoga one of our first principles is to Value our breath and breathe consciously. Think of each conscious inhalation you receive as a reaffirmation of that divinity in you.   Science and psychology has established the mind body connection. In Kundalini yoga we understand that the rate and rhythm of your breath is intimately connected to our mental and emotional states. By slowing the breath down, or just becoming mindful of our breath we can relax our nervous system, change our blood chemistry and gain control of our mind and emotions. The average rate of breathing for most people is 15 cycles (i.e. cycle means in and out) per minute.

Practical Tips

Breath of Fire: expands your lungs, detoxifies your blood, massages your organs.Long Deep Breathing: When you want to control your mind and emotions. If you can reduce your breath cycle to less than 8 per minute this stimulates the pituitary gland the gateway to your intuition, your inner guide to make the correct decision.Left nostril breathing: to calm the nervous system down. Try just 26 cycles when feeling stressed.Right nostril breathing: to give you some energy and stop those sweet, carb, cravings at 3pm.  Catch yourself breathing notice it and gives thanks for your breath.  Sat nam Fi x sanasumainsrilanka.wordpress.com read our weekly blogs and brain candy updates

Communication and the power of your breath – Mon class at home today 14th March 2016

COMMUNICATION AND THE POWER OF YOUR BREATH

“In any communication, or in any situation which you cannot confront because it is exaggerating, hot or aggressive, just change your breath. Breathe through the lips instead of through the nostrils. Exhale always through the nostrils. Inhale through the rolled lips and make it slow and long. It will slow everything as required. It will increase your sensitivity. It will give you 10 times more projection over the person you are talking to. ”  Quote from Yogi Bhajan

In class today we will be practicing breathing techniques, especially focussing on the:-

Sitali Pranayam
Sitali Pranayam is known to have a powerful cooling, relaxing effect on the body, while maintaining alertness. It is known to lower fevers, and aid digestion.
Curl the tongue into a ‘U” shape.
Inhale through the curled tongue.
Exhale through the nose.

Kundalini Yoga Class today 22 April at St Pauls Church, Cambridge, UK

Yogic Breath

In todays class we are working on the breath, here are just a few of the benefits of Long Deep Breathing

Kundalini Yoga class with Shaunagh

7 – 8pm

at St Pauls Church, Hills Road, Cambridge, CB2 1LR

  • Relax and calm you
  • This relaxation is of an active rather than a passive kind.  It will re-tune and reset your brain so that correct decisions will flow automatically in a crisis situation.
  • Filling of the lungs to capacity will feed your electro-magnetic field.  Revitalizing and re-adjusting your magnetic field will make you less liable to fall victim to accidents, sickness and negativity.
  • Pump the spinal fluid to the brain, giving greater energy
  • Reduce and prevent toxic buildup caused by not clearing the mucous linings of the small air sacs (alveoli) of the the lungs
  • Stimulate the production of chemicals (endorphins) in the brain, which eliminate the tendency to depression.
  • Cleanse the blood
  • Energize, give greater alertness and awareness due to the life force (prana) in oxygen.
  • Give clarity, cool-headedness, and positivity
  • Aid in breaking subconscious undesirable habit patterns and addictions
  • Reduce insecurity and fear
  • Give capacity to control your negativity and emotions
  • As the lung capacity increases, the pitutitary gland will begin to secrete and the intuitional power of the mind will begin to develop.
