The Science of Sound – Kundalini yoga heal and inspire – 29 January 6.15-7.30pm Prana Lounge

brainThe Science of Sound

I spent a very special weekend hearing different sounds at the Galle Literary Festival. The words and vibrations of inspirational speakers, who used their voices to inspire, excite and uplift. This week we continue with our investigation into the yogic science of sound to make our words powerful, uplifting and inspirational.

The Science-We are the most amazing instrument. We discussed the power of sound to raise our vibration last week, as we played the instrument of our body and its 72,000 surs, string or meridian points. Why is mantra a quantum technology? It is quantum because sound manipulates the smallest particles in our bodies to effectively change the combinations and patterns within us. These patterns then form the informational DNA of your spirit. A sacred rope of knots to lift you to the divine.

These primal sounds we use in mantra are called Phonemes. The Shabd (sound) guru (teacher) uses these primal units of speech plus universal grammar under laying all language to change the psychoactive neurology of the brain. Repeating the pattern embedded in the Shabd guru ingrains that pattern of primal sound into the brain, this is the patterns of sound made at the beginning of time, the big bang so to speak. Enlightened Masters having experienced the sound current, have extracted these sounds from the Anahat (the unstruck or unmanifested sound current) and plucked these particular series of notes from behind the silence to give us a technology to heal the maladies of our time. You may ask why these particular notes and not all sounds. Because not all combinations of sounds create a pattern of wholeness and healing.

mantra

Why does it work?

Shabd means sound, but when you break the word down you get Sha, meaning the expression of ego and bd, to cut. Ego is formed by the minds constant automatic processing that attaches us to identify with objects, people, feelings, thoughts, etc. The Ego is not bad, just very limited.   When all your actions, thoughts, etc are attached to ego your reality becomes very narrow, and you live in the duality of pain and pleasure. When you transcend, the ego see it but are not taken by it, then you intuitively connect to the larger Self the vastness of what is and understand the play of life from this perspective.

Each primal sound is a unit that is pronounced by a particular part of the mouth. When we form a word to speak it, the tongue moves and touches the palate, the top of the mouth, and the teeth in a well-defined area. The sound of the word directs the pressure of the air and vibrates the vocal chords to stimulate specific areas in the skull. The primal sounds use these areas of reflex, attached to meridians, to direct brain patterns. That is why it is easier to meditate to Mantra, because it cuts through the ego of negative and positive thoughts to the truth of you and your neutral mind.  Having practiced chanting for around 16 years I can attest to the power of mantra. Try it and lets your normal day words come from a clear mind and inspire all those who hear you.  Sat nam Fi x sanasumainsrilanka.wordpress.com read our weekly blogs, raymond.fiona@gmail.com   0778011984 www.sanasuma.co.uk http://www.3ho.org

2018 The Year of Sound: Kundalini yoga Mon 22 Jan 6.15-7.30pm@ Prana Lounge

sound 12018 the Year of Sound

Having just been to the movies to watch Pitch Perfect I was inspired by how amazing music, singing and sound can lift you up and start really transforming you. In fact Mick Rock legendary 70’s rock and roll photographer and yogi said, “ You paid whatever you could afford for your mantra…I ‘ve used this mantra ever since. Very easy to use very powerful.” In later life he discovered Kundalini yoga. When asked why Kundalini? He said, “It totally works. It is not bullshit crap. It’s not theoretical. You don’t have to start as a believer or be a follower of Yogi Bhajan to get the benefits. All I really know is the Kundalini kriyas, postures, meditation, chanting and breathing techniques enable me to easily access an altered state in a non chemical way. I just go into the Kundalini space. My brain, my being transforms.”

Practical Guide: So how does Sound & Mantra work

sound

Thoughts and sounds are energetic waves we cannot see but exist. If you project a specific form of energy through the mind, it can have a predictable effect on the physiology of the body and psyche of the brain. This we call mantra. Mantra essentially is a sound wave that you pulse across the brain to create a specific effect within you. It is a bit like a mathematical formula. Each mantra creates a measurable end. It alters the chemistry and pattern of the neurons with both physical and esoteric effects. This has been measured in Harvard and UCLA when they researched how Kritan Kriya (SA,TA,NA,MA) affected DNA and regrowth of telomeres in patients with Alzheimer’s.

Every element of the universe is in a constant state of vibration manifested to us as light, sound and energy. The human sense perceives only a fraction of the infinite range of vibration, so it is difficult to comprehen that the Word mentioned in the bible is actually the totality of vibration which underlies and sustains all creation. A person can tune his or her own consciousness into the awareness of that totality with the use of a mantra. By vibrating in rhythm with the breath to a particular sound that is proportional to the creative sound, or sound current, one can expand one’s sensitivity to the entire spectrum of vibration. It is similar to striking a note on a stringed instrument. In other words, as you vibrate, the universe vibrates with you.” ~Yogi Bhajan

Chanting a mantra either silently or out loud is a method of directing the mind. All of our emotions (sorrow, joy, bitterness, elation) are vibratory frequencies. You can call them beliefs, attitudes, whatever you want, but fundamentally they are vibratory patterns that determine the program played by our mind. So much of what we interact with as “reality” is the program our mind is playing. Our vibratory pattern determines how we feel.

We chant constantly, even if we aren’t aware of it. Chanting can look like “I’m failure, I’m failure, I always fail so why bother trying”. If every other word out of our mouth is “I don’t have enough money for (fill in the blank)” then that, too, is the vibratory pattern we are sending across our minds. When we consciously chant a mantra we are invoking its specific vibratory resonance and placing it into our mind’s field. So if the mantra is for prosperity, peace, happiness, intuition or any multitude of other marvelous things that is the vibratory pattern we are establishing. It doesn’t actually matter if we know the meaning of the mantra; it will still have an effect. The sounds themselves are encoded with meaning and vibratory range. It’s not all about belief. Nor is it placebo. It’s a matter of the universe itself using certain frequencies to manifest things. Mantras were developed by those who could hear and understand the language of the universe. They then blossomed forth these combination of sounds to harness specific vibratory patterns and allow us to mirror them back to the universe in its own language of sound, light and energy.

When chanting it is important to listen to the sound of your own voice, no matter what the pitch or tone. It is not about harmonising. But try to make sure your voice does not dominate either. As the thoughts or emotions arise in meditation, chant strongly and consciously to match the frequency of the thought or emotion. The mantra can then dissolve or replace this pattern with a positive one.

Mantra is also great for people who find meditation difficult. Chanting mantra is a way of staying focused and positively cutting through negative mind loops and patterns. Great to use with Autistic children. Find a mantra that you feel the effect of and use it this year to be the truest, highest version of you. Shabd Guru – A Quantum Technology 22 May 6.15pm Kundalini Yoga @Prana Lounge

star-clusters-74052_960_720-300x293

We are the most amazing instrument. We discussed the power of sound to raise our vibration last week, as we played the instrument of our body and its 72,000 surs, string or meridian points. This week we go into the scicence of this quantum technology.

This may sound, forgive my pun, complicated but sound is the perfect neuro-stimulator that activates and connects different areas of our brain and it does its job so subtly that you only need to follow the instructions and feel the effect.   In fact, my small black cat understands this ancient technology instantly. He is normally very afraid of people and situations, but when it comes to Wednesday Sadhana, our early morning gathering of Kundalini yoga and chanting the Shabd Guru he is in complete alignment, he normally walks in midway and then just lies down to immerse himself in the sound current, whether it is the gong, or the sound of us chanting. He then even allows students to stroke him. This is the power of this technology that it can manipulate our very cells to bring us into the highest vibrational frequency that we can all share and relate to, even the puddy cat.

Why is it a quantum technology. It is quantum because it manipulates the smallest particles of sound and energy into effective combinations and patterns. These patterns then form the informational DNA of your spirit. A sacred rope of knots to lift you to the divine.

These primal sounds are called Phonemes and the Shabd guru uses these primal units of speech plus universal grammar under lying all language to change the psychoactive neurology of the brain. The Shabds heritage is from the Sikh Guru’s but you do not have to be any religious denomination to access this technology, it is for everyone.

Why does it work.

This is difficult topic to blog about because it is so experiential. The test is in the doing. Feel free to put on a Shabd Japji in the morning or Jap Sahib and listen, chant if you like but allow the process to start transforming how you see life. That is why it is easier to meditate to Mantra, because it cuts through the ego of negative and positive thoughts to the truth of you and your neutral mind.
