Joy- Give yourself to Permission – Kundalini, Gong and Meditation Classes

Melissa

My intention this week had been to write about the emotion of shame, but events of the last few days completely changed my focus.

Last week at the end of a very intensive weekend of Kundalini Level 1 Teacher Training, I was asked by my dear friend and colleague Annoushka to give myself a break and come away with her to attend a yoga retreat for 2 days at Ulpotha. Not only is Ulpotha one of my favourite places in the world but also one of my favourite teachers Melissa Smith was teaching.

I learnt so much, by giving myself time out, permission to dive into the depth of myself and feel joy. I first had to first process guilt and worry about cancelling a class, but all these emotions melted away as I smelt and heard the rain hitting the dry red earth, listened to the birds at dusk, heard the rustle of the wind in the trees as it picks up tempo before a storm. The sounds of the frogs and insects in our tropical paradise of Sri lanka. The feeling of water on my skin, weirdly hot and cold in the lake in Ulpotha. To the sound of my heart and breath during asana, meditation and relaxation.

All these things reminded me that I was not here on earth just to survive. I was also divinity, a co-creator of my reality. Survival was the old way, governed by our worries and intellect, linked with our fear of existence. With it comes judgment, blame, shame and guilt. When we separate from our innate nature of love and joy, our psyche splits into the polarity of good/bad, right/wrong, a two-dimensional world where life is a burden, a struggle. When we give ourselves permission to work with our heart brain, at a higher mental and physical frequency and do everything in the name of joy, even the boring or difficult things become effortless, effort. We act/do or work towards what we want, use the pause between the effort and surrender to be fully present to the reality of what IS. Then you can surrender yourself to the flow of life and receive the outcome with ease. Fulfillment, contentment and joy reside in the heart brain. Give up your worry of survival, do something inspiring that puts joy in your heart every day, even if it is just a beautiful affirmation, poem, deep breath, kiss, singing, chanting, the feel of the air on your skin, anything that connects you with the joy that always resides in your heart. This will allow you to access the deep well that resides in all of us, that will allow you to relax, trust and know all your dreams will be fulfilled.

With thanks to everyone in my life, to all the lessons I learn daily and the opportunity to experience existence.

Negative Thoughts our and others how do we cope with them? Kundalini yoga and meditation 6.15-7.30pm Mon 17 Oct @ Prana Lounge

images8icqvpv9When I was younger I felt a little superior as I thought I was such a happy and positive person and got upset when someone said anything negative or critical.

I have now come to understand what the negative mind is and how it works. We all have 3 functional minds the negative mind being the first one and the strongest. It is the strongest because it is the protective mind, your alarm system. Its value is that it warns you of danger or if you will be at a disadvantage. If the negative mind had not been strong in ancient times your genetic line would not have survived to produce YOU.  But when we let our negative mind get too strong it can make our life a living hell. We see danger everywhere instead of opportunity or choice.

The second functional mind is the positive mind. It is expansive and sees the gain or advantage in any situation. The third mind, the neutral mind is not scared by the negative mind or fooled by the wishful thinking of the positive mind. It is conscious and wise giving you the solution that you can trust, that has your best interests at heart.

So we should be aware of what the negative mind says, but use the other 2 minds to assess it, in order to decide if the treat is real or perceived.

Last week I was at Borderlands in Kitual Gala and went river cannoning, which entails climbing, sliding and jumping down a river. Many times my negative mind became so strong, I could feel my heartbeat, fear made everything around me come into intense focus. I could see light glinting off the beautiful butterfly, the sound of the river pounding the rocks, the intense green of the trees around me. But I let my other minds tell me that the risk of injury was very small, that jumping from 15ft into a beautiful pool was fun and the risk was not real only perceived.

Practical

Now we have understood our own negative thought process, lets deal with external negativity. It is easy to feel that other people are ruining your mood because of their thoughts, words and actions. Other people can put your plans down, tell you, you can never achieve your dreams, or just moan or complain. This can dissolve your good mood.

1.Always Ask Why do I react to this?

But is it our reaction to that person or situation that really kills the good mood. It is much easier to go off and live on your own in a cave and practice a yogic lifestyle and philosophy, but if you want to live in this practical world and be a yogi you have to deal with all the normal challenges and work on yourself internally to transform reactions to other people’s negativity. Ask yourself the questions, “What is it in me that reacts to someone else’s negative words, actions?” Is it a reflection of some subconscious fears, negativity, etc. that you have not acknowledged and dealt with yet? Instead of blaming the other it is much more productive to look within.

2.Non judgmental

As yogis we do not learn yoga to feel superior to others, above all of these human emotions, instead we allow it to makes us REAL, approachable, fearless to discover all our shadows and shine our conscious awareness on them.   This all sounds easy to do but it takes patience, time and practice.

3. Work on your Aura

imageslqbqoi38

3 mins of breath of fire per day will help increase the strength and power of your electromagnetic field or aura. Your aura protects you from negativity, internally within yourself and externally. The stronger the aura the less you feel the effect of outside lower energy frequencies, whether it be people or places. There are many other practices to increase your aura, the cold shower ishnaan, wearing white or a light colour made of natural material, yoga especially for the electromagnetic field.

4. Lead by Example

People who practice yoga know the magic it creates in our lives. If yoga has allowed you to have a more positive outlook on life, share that with the negative people in your life. Do not preach, but bring in inspirational stories into your conversation. When someone wants to gossip, say plainly that I do not feel comfortable talking about that person. Explain to them how you’ve been able to see the good in things and how this has made all things in life more enjoyable. By giving them tools to change rather than isolating or attacking them, you are helping them to change on their own.

Kundalini the energy of Awareness

aquarian 3

Kundalini is the life force of awareness. When we elevate the Kundalini we encounter a force in our nervous system and mind that strips away all that is not needed.  Awareness can be defined by the quality of your conscious in combination with the rely of the sensory information that is sent to you to at any given moment.

Kundalini energy is often referred to as a sudden fiery, mind blowing energy travelling up the spine to elevate your consciousness; so called Kundalini rising.   This dramatic experience may well happen to some people, but the technology of Kundalini Yoga that has been given to us by Yogi Bhajan creates a subtle experience. My experience is of this gentle subtle energy and subtle changes in my life. I have had an awakening but it is very much a work in progress, captured in my experience of feeling greater and greater awareness during certain moments in my day when I have the presence to move my attention from my busy mind with its worries and doubts, into my body and breath. These moments of being aware of the finite in my inhale and the infinite in the exhale allow me to open up to life. I more easily catch my mind as it becomes frustrated with the reality of a situation and move beyond its limited interpretation of life to one where all solutions and possibilities are a reality. Catching the blame and forgiving it, before it turns inwards and destroys the self-love that I have carefully nurtured.

Our expectations of a situations set ourselves up to catch that moment. Like the calculations you make to catch a ball in your hands. I find that the development of my awareness, allows me to calculate and prepare less so instead of living through my expectations I can be more flexible in my acceptance of the IS. Instead of setting up the moment with my old expectations, life can now open up and allow a new future to arrive. As we continually grow our awareness we get better and better at catching ourselves when we slip back into old patterns of blaming, non-acceptance, rage, frustration etc.

Practical

images-67

Have supreme patience with yourself, start your day with pre forgiveness for the times you will slip up during the day and forgive yourself each time you do. Take time to bless yourself and count your blessing. Explore life with innocent wonder. Realise your potential as an infinite being in a finite body. Realise that each moment is part of the infinite, even if it is not what you desire. Allow yourself and others around you to flourish without dulling their spirits.

Kriya to connect with your infinite source of energy

1. Sit in easy pose. Stretch your left arm out to the side with the fingers in gyan mudra and the palm up. The right elbow is bent, the palm faces forward, and the hand is about the level of the ear. The right thumb and sun finger (ring finger) connect to form surya mudra while the other fingers point upward. Inhale and exhale. Hold the breath out and pull the navel, mentally chanting “Har” with each pull of the navel. Begin by chanting “Har” eight times with the breath held out. When you are comfortable with that, increase the number of times you pull the navel and mentally chant “Har” until you can chant “Har” twenty times before you inhale. 11 Minutes.
To finish: Rapidly pump the navel 108 times either with the breath held in or with the breath held out. (Your choice)

Busting our Fears and the Midlife Crisis – Kundalini Yoga

mid life.png

The midlife crisis does not have to be a crisis, essentially it is a time for self-assessment or revaluation of your life so far. It can hit during the life cycles clusters of 33, 35, 36 or 42, 44 or 54, 55, 56. At this stage in your life you have finished the process of accumulations, which pre occupied you in the first third of your life, now is the chance to decide what worked or did not work? Are you really going in the direction you want to go in? How about your dreams and ambitions when you were younger, have they been fulfilled? When this shift hits it can bring great resolution, creativity, the applied intelligence and understanding of ourselves through consciousness or bring up deep subconscious, sometimes irrational fears, of past failures or the future, that make us feel lost, nostalgic and create a deep reluctance to embrace the future. This overwhelm can easily lead to depression.

During this time of evolutionary change our subconscious fears during these life cycle changes are coming up very strongly. Deep primal subconscious fear is coming up so it can be released. Emotions are very important at this time, in order to release these emotions we must allow ourselves to feel them. The emotional body is the closest to the physical body so it makes us feel physically really uncomfortable and it is difficult to ignore. Not only do we have to deal with these uncomfortable feelings but we also have to deal with how our mind reacts to this discomfort. The mind likes to avoid pain and seeks pleasure. So it generates thoughts to self-medicate or produce emotional satisfaction like shopping, drinking, smoking, drugs, gaming, fixation on other people and their problems, whatever your pattern of pain avoidance is will surface. Avoiding these painful feelings give a temporary relief to your mind but this feel good numbing will not last very long, therefore you will back to dealing with your original emotions.

If emotionally you are really shut down, it will manifest in disease, that is why so many people are suffering from diseases at the present time.

The most primal fear we have to deal with is fear of the material world. Fear of our own survival. This is in our genes, and genetics does not care if you have a comfortable life or money or not, it just cares about keeping the species alive.

Yoga works on the physical plain, emotional and mental level. You have 2 ways in which you can deal with these feelings you can deal with them on the energetic level internally, through awareness, working with your mind, body and feelings or you manifest your deepest fears in this 3-dimensional earth plain i.e. time and space become your teachers. Both methods work but time and space is more brutal.

Yogic science helps us transcend our fears. We are born to be free, manifest our dreams and love that is our purpose here on earth. Deep meditations can rewire our brain to help us deal with our deep subconscious fears, allowing us to internally confront the fear, embrace it to erase it, so you do not have to manifest it.

Once you have dealt with this period of time you will feel emotionally more stable than before. During these times we need to intensify our self-care. Maybe change pace a little, slow down, spend more time feeling great in our skin, meditating into a place of stillness so life can come to us. We need to face the mental fear of the future and conquer it.

Practical Application – Self-care breath

breathe

Self-care breath increases inner energy and strength

boosts the immune system, and cleanses the body.

  1. Sit comfortably in a meditation posture.
  2. Open the mouth and form a circle that is tight and

precise—a boar’s mouth.

  1. Place the hands crossed over the Heart Centre, right over left.
  2. Close your eyes and sense the area under your palms.
  3. Breathe a steady, powerful Cannon Breath through the mouth. Let your mind focus on the mouth ring and shape the breath into a ring. Continue 5 minutes.
  4. To end: Inhale and hold the breath. Relax the mouth.

Mentally repeat: “I am beautiful, I am innocent, I am innocent, I am beautiful.” Exhale through the nose. Do this a total of five times. Then relax.

The Biorhythms of Life – 6.15-7.30pm Kundalini Yoga Mon 1 August @ Prana Lounge

biorhythmIs your life an automatic existence? Are you in survival mode? Or do you live in the ebb and flow of the Universal life force. Our individual lives are either acted out in concert like a harmonious note or discordant and in conflict with these basic micro and macro cycles and rhythms of life, Yogi Bhajan called the Biorhythm of life.

The habits we cultivate, our self discipline and conscious awareness effect our capacity to make key choices that enhance the harmony of the flow or strike a discordant note.

Life’s purpose for the individual is to give us the chance to experience our own infinite nature in the finite realm. Encounter our destiny and build caliber and character through our actions and interactions with others.

At each point in our life we continue to develop, learn and change. The yogis noticed that our life was cyclical. It revolved in 3 main cycles:

  • Every 7 years the cycle of our consciousness and identity. (What are our priorities, values and meaning of life. How connected our we to people and the Infinite)
  • Every 11 years the cycle of applied intelligence. (What are our strategies, how do we manifest our thoughts into actions and how do we perceive cause and effect in relation to our choices)
  • Every 18 years the cycle of physical, health and vitality. (Level of activity, quality of life, lifestyle and wellbeing habits)

If we choose to recognise that our life has a map we can learn to adapt at each stage of our life. We can develop tools and have an emergency back pack to deal with the changing terrain and challenges as we enter each stage.rhythm bio

  • Adolescent 11-21yrs,
  • Young adult 22-40yrs,
  • Maturity 40-66yrs
  • Elder 66yrs onwards.

The Practice

Spend 5 mins making a list of your habits. Now underline the ones that you feel you have learnt unconsciously. For example, I tend eat very fast and not chew my food properly.

Go through each of your unconscious habits and note if you were going to try and change your unconscious habits would it take effort, insight or redirection?

Look at your habits and see if any of them support your mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing. How do they support you when you face challenges in your life? (For example, if I consciously chew my food and become conscious when I eat, I digest my food better, feel physically well and therefore sleep better and am a nicer person.)

What is your Value?

security

We need to fill ourselves with value everyday, this can be done by chanting or singing from our heart feeling the joy and fullness there or by breathing the fragrance of love in to our hearts. If you do not do this on a regular basis you will feel a deep sense of emptiness which you will fill up with unconscious habits and patterns which make your external world more valuable than your inneral one.

Self– esteem is the fragrance that emanates from the Self just as kindness, self-respect, self-love all originate from this place too.

I-AM-LOGO1

5 Ways To Gain Self Value

  1. Command the Mind

The mind tells us constantly what we are worth. Whenever you attempt to move forward in your life, it is the mind that sends the deluge of critical, judgmental and self-hating thoughts. You are not your thoughts.  Daily meditation is non-negotiable now in order to develop a relationship with your mind.  Commanding the mind is a full time job.  It is becoming a witness to your thoughts and refusing to react or act until you are clear.

  1. Trust Yourself

We all have an inner compass that guides us through time and space. However, we have been taught and trained not to trust it. When my teacher Shiv Charan told me about my inner compass, I simple could not believe it. I was always someone who did not trust myself and looked to others, teachers etc. to know better than myself. When you give other people power over yourself you are doubting your own value.   Only you can really know what is  best for yourself.   This does not mean you dismiss everyone elses opinions. You can listen neutrally to the opinion and see if it resonates with your heart. Truth is a frequency of energy that will resound with your Self or not. Your Mind is not your inner compass. Test this out when you listen to people. Do you feel YES and it feels right or NO which feels a bit off or wrong –like you suddenly are lopsided?

  1. Know yourself and value yourself

Can you really say you know yourself?  Chances are there are parts of you that you need to embrace. The only reason you don’t accept yourself is that you have written a self-concept of you that is not the truth. Most people want to be someone they’re not. Look at the magazine racks. They sell you how not to be you, to aspire to be someone else. You lower your self-value when you compare yourself to someone else.

Instead of comparing yourself, get to know yourself. Spend time alone and out of the conditioning field of other people so that you can really feel what it is to be YOU.

To start to know YOU, ask yourself questions and answer them in truth:

What uplifts your Spirit?

What opens your Heart?

  1. Embrace your Perfection

Your mind is always telling you are lacking in some way and you need to prove yourself.  The mind will tell you that you are not smart enough, attractive enough, successful enough–basically you are not good enough and you have no value. This can be happening at the unconscious level and perhaps this wound has been handed down through your ancestral lineage. This energy will drive you to make choices that are not correct for you in order to prove yourself.

Before any action, take time to question your motivation. Ask yourself, “Why do I want to do this? Am I trying to prove myself to someone? Prove that I am a good friend, partner, worker, loyal? Am I feeling worthless right now and trying to escape from these painful feelings?” The Truth is that you are Perfect and Whole. Focus on feeling full in your heart and this will allow you to embrace your imperfections as perfections.

  1. Let Go of the Past

People can recount all the horrible things that have happened to them in their past and all the people who are responsible for their low self-esteem. The ego’s version of letting go of the past is seeking some kind of vengeance or payback before moving on. Or diminishing the pain, “It wasn’t that bad, my friend had it worse.”  To truly let go of the past, you have to go into the dark recesses of the subconscious mind and at the cellular level. This means rolling up your sleeves and feeling all the pain that is associated with these memories and let go of these feelings.

Cross left under right arm on your shoulders, bow your head to your heart, take the value from external things to your heart and chant , “Gobinda, Gobinda Hari Hari chant for 11 mins. Translates to sustainer and supporter of all.

Take the Pressure off – Kundalini Yoga

12096555_395166917356978_4905646554773778319_nThe 3rd Sutra is simple and clear—when you have a deadline and feel the pressure of getting a project done, the way to release the pressure is to simply begin. If you know what your first step is, just do it!

This expansion of consciousness is pressurizing you to change, grow, and evolve on your soul’s journey. It is foolish to hold back this process with procrastination. In truth, we all know within our deepest selves what changes need to be made.

But often we dread and/or procrastinate starting (or completing) tasks and projects. We experience this in a variety of situations—mundane, like cleaning your house; practical, like organizing a project at work; or personal, like starting a sadhana or doing that new hobby you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t.

The first thing to ask is, “What is keeping me from starting?” Each person needs to look within to find their unique issue that is preventing forward momentum.

What is causing the pressure we feel?

  • Worry and stress about ‘what if’ scenarios will only lead to more suffering and paralysis. This is the mind’s play and you’ll end up like a dog chasing its tail.
  • Do we have expectations of ourselves and the situation outcome?
  • Do we think we should do, be, think something that we aren’t?
  • Are we multitasking too much in life and feeling overwhelmed?

There are so many answers, and the question requires you to get to a neutral mind so you can hear the wisdom of your own soul telling you how to heal the blocks, and how to move forward.

When we can experience our true self and maintain a strong relationship with our soul, we live beyond the constraints of time and space. We know our true direction, and can let go of fear.

“You are only free when you are above time and space. When you are afraid, ‘What will happen tomorrow?’ you are not living, you are just dragging. Spirit is above time and space.” -Yogi Bhajan, 7/29/78

Once we are in alignment with our truth, we can begin to initiate change. Using the technology of Kundalini Yoga, we can begin to manifest and sustain new endeavours, no matter how large or small.

“This technology is fundamental to the physiology and consciousness of human beings everywhere. Understanding and practicing the technology of spirituality on a daily basis results in alignment, balance, focus, harmony and the ability to function successfully under the pressures of time and space. It is now time that we must learn the way to be happy and to thrive under these new elevated levels of pressure.” -Excerpt from a paper read at a lecture by Yogi Bhajan on 7/27/99

This mantra brings stability to the hemispheres of the brain and works on the Heart Centre to develop compassion, patience and tolerance, uniting one with the Infinite. It is noted for the capacity to break through deep-seated blocks.

Meditation with the Guru Gaitri Mantra

Posture: Sit in Easy Pose with a straight spine.

Focus: Eyes are closed.

Mantra: Gobinday, Mukanday, Udaaray, Apaaray, Hariang, Kariang, Nirnaamay, Akaamay

Chant and focus on the sound.

Time: Continue for 11 minutes.

Translation: Sustainer, Liberator, Enlightener, Infinite, Destroyer, Creator, Nameless, Desireless

The brain has the capacity to automatically pick it up. These words existed before any language existed. Rhythm mantras are meant to pick you up into the ether. This is one mantra in the world which balances the ether and the Earth.

You can sing it anyway. You can sing it driving, sitting, eating, sleeping; it doesn’t matter. Whenever you utter it, all facets of God will be right in you. Now, when you will do this, after a while you will start seeing lots of things. You will say something and it will happen; don’t worry. Just keep on doing it.

Life is a living experience between the finite and Infinity.

Recognise the Other Person is YOU – Detox from Sympathy

recognise the other is you

AQUARIAN AGE – RECOGNISE THE OTHER PERSON IS YOU

Humans are the only animals who enjoy sympathy. As a society we need to detox from sympathy as it feeds our victim consciousness (which we have from time to time) or gives our egos feelings of superiority.

First we need to differentiate between empathy and sympathy.

Sympathy comes about from, and is developed through, suffering. We can sympathize with someone because we have experienced similar situations and can understand degrees of intensity. While we may never have been homeless we can sympathize, because we have been lonely, lost, poor or otherwise in a difficult situation and we can multiply that experience in our mind to have some approximation of what homelessness might be like.

Sympathy is also situation dependent. We may have sympathy for a homeless single mother who is trying to feed her child, but no sympathy for a homeless drunk who is trying to feed an alcohol addiction. Empathy is a deeper state of connection with other living beings.

First of all Empathy is not limited by circumstance. Empathy doesn’t judge the circumstance of a homeless drunk, empathy simply and directly shares in the pain of hopelessness, desperation and regret. It is also possible to have empathy without sympathy, feeling the pain while simultaneously admitting the person’s own responsibility in creating or alleviating that pain.

Empathy is a powerful development of our ability to take the roll of other. It is marked by the graduation from a mental calculation of the circumstance to a direct recognition of the internal state of another being. This awareness throws out the particular circumstance and is able to actually FEEL that person’s pain or joy/sadness/love/peace etc. . . .

How is this possible?

Well as our consciousness expands to include deeper truths about the fundamental nature of our being, our personal borders begin to literally expand to include other people.

Almost everyone does this with members of their own family. We can feel the tension in the air when a loved one is angry.  As we consciously expand our state of awareness we become empathetic to a wider circle of people, animals, environments, etc.

sympathy

Being open to the interior state of nearly every being you come across is a challenging and confusing state of affairs.  But the trick is to keep your own aura or electromagnetic frequency high, so you can tune into that person or circumstance and then up lift the situation with your energy. That does not mean you will solve all the problems of that person or the world, but give them a boost, see a little light at the end of the tunnel, see that they can be their own healer, miracle etc. In the Aquarian age this is called to see the other as you.

This kind of empathy, loving understanding doesn’t ignore pain or suffering, nor does it dismiss it in any way. In fact it invites you to feel all feelings without avoidance and experience the pain of others which softens and enlargers your heart to be even more loving. This breaking of our heart is a good think as it allows greater compassion, allows us to be real with people as we understand through this compassionate love. The Love that flows through you at the heart centre allows you to increase your electromagnetic field, not as a protection but as an opening to all of life.

In short it is that the way out is the way through. Keep feeling and caring. Keep diving deeper and responding with Genuine Love to more and more of what you encounter each day, don’t act necessarily, breath and feel.   As your outward flow of Love becomes habitual and your electromagnetic fields becomes stronger, the feeling of being tossed about in the emotional landscape of others will subside. You will find yourself anchored in the limitless and effortless flow of Love. You may not have noticed this, but meditate on it a bit and you will find that it is true: There is no difference between the feeling of Love flowing out from us, and Love flowing in towards us.

We make up stories about fairness and keep score of the number of times a type of situation has occurred, and we tell ourselves that we are owed an influx of love from somewhere outside of ourselves.

But the truth is that ultimately there is no other for love to come from and no other for it to go to. The actual feeling, the life affirming grace of Love’s movement within us, which we so desperately scramble for, is no different moving ‘in’ or ‘out’. We can feel the movement of Love within us ALWAYS, by simply allowing it to flow through us endlessly into the world.

Making Your Dreams Come True – The Yoga of Prayer

prayer

The Power of Real Prayer?

Very simply it is when you ask for a higher power or authority to intervene.   In the Piscean Age, Religion taught you to look outside yourself for miracles. Religion should have taught you to call on your higher self in prayer.

We tend to pray when we are desperate, insecure, lost.  But you can also live in gratitude and that is living in prayer.  Prayer is actually gratitude. You are the miracle you want to create, you are the divine, so learn to pray to your heart your soul.

Prayer comes from the heart not the head. Love comes from inside your heart just as prayers come from inside you. When you practice this you become bright, beautiful and trustworthy.   Anytime you pray from outside you, you are trying to pressurise the situation to create a result. You are trying to use force not love to create change.

The brain stem is the control centre for your total personality, projection and progression. Once you start vibrating from the brain stem like an expanding wave into infinity you unite the finite and infinite in you. This is prayer that works.

If you want more peace, feel more peaceful. If you want more prosperity, feel more abundant. If you want more joy, feel joy bubbling up from the depths of your being.

The first step is to learn to send vibrations out, become a beacon of vibratory power of your soul.  This vibration flowing out of you is prayer. It will meet all challenges unto infinity.  When you expand into your vastness, your greatness, your Great Spirit, your great soul.  You will really understand prayer and the power of it, the power of you.

Meditation to Teach You to Pray

prayer 2

Mudra: Interlace the fingers so the left Mercury finger (pinkie) is on the outside. Extend the Jupiter fingers (index) up straight. Cross the thumbs, so right is over left. Place this mudra in front of the Heart Center so the thumbs are very close to the chest, and the Jupiter fingers are pointing straight up toward the ceiling. The elbows will be bent.

Eyes: Closed or 1/10th open.

Focus: Build an image of yourself. You are still and radiant. Your breath is slow, deep and meditative. Imagine you are sitting on the top of Mount Everest, so all the world is around you. Consider your spine is like a tube of light. There is light between the base of your neck and the base where you are sitting. Now it is sending out light rays. You can send waves to the entire globe with each thought.

Your prayer is like a stone, which is dropped in the middle of some water. It creates waves and ripples. Feel yourself as the waves and ripples go on and on unto Infinity. The power of your soul is the pure power. Let the power of your soul vibrate out. It has no limit or boundary. With each breath and with the ripples of your heartbeat, project, bless, and be blessed. Merge in Infinity and let Infinity find you too.

Time: 11 minutes, 31 minutes maximum.

To End: Do heavy Breath of Fire, holding the position to awaken yourself out of the meditation. Continue for 1 minute.

prayer 3

Then stretch the arms out to the sides, forearms bent up at about a 45-degree angle, palms down. Begin circling just the hands, right hand counterclockwise and left hand clockwise, in 6-inch circles. Don’t just circle them. Stop every so often as the hands are up and out to the sides, and flutter your fingers a little, as if you are sending off energy to the environment and space around you.

Dissolve your Hidden Self by Increasing your Radiance

dancing_sunset_by_kaamiila-d5jhhrp

The Hidden self diminishes our radiance and connection to our true identity.

Summary of Hidden Self, Agenda and Mask it creates

The Hidden Self and mask is completely separate to the Persona or Shadow Self. Nearly all of us have a Hidden self with a hidden agenda which developed between the ages of 0-7years. The trauma you could have suffered could be as simple as your mother left you in a room while you were asleep. You woke up scared and insecure, crying and the ego decided you never wanted to feel like this again. So you become reactive and start manipulating situations so as to avoid these feelings of insecurity and fear. The child’s agenda if it is not dealt with consciously at a young age becomes the hidden self. Because we are not neutral about ourselves we dismiss the hidden self and its agendas and do not believe the outside world is affected by our private thoughts and feelings.

We react in the same way to all situations, which may not make sense in the current moment. The gap between us and reality increases.   If our habit is to simple react, or to react and deny we reacted we divide and fight ourselves. It is just like trying to see ourselves in a shattered mirror.

Building our Presence and the Authentic Self

When we develop:

  1. Our frontal lobe so that we can use its discriminative ability to filter our thoughts and impulses.
  2. Develop our Intuitive capacity.
  3. Expand our radiance and Aura so we connect our electromagnetic field to the Universal Electromagnetic field.

radiant body 1

There is 2 ways of doing this, you need to work on Shakti and Bhakti.Shakti or strength is created through the daily discipline of kundalini yoga. By balancing the pranas and opening the central channel so that the kundalini energy of consciousness can flow. In many lectures Yogi Bhajan explained to us how we can develop an aura extending to 9 feet in all directions. However self-doubt, inner conflict can diminish the aura to 3-4 feet in a moment. To extend your radiance to connect with the universal magnetic field you need to enter a state of neutrality

Bhakti is the approach of love, surrender and merger. Normally we live in duality and conflict which saps the radiance of our aura. When we bow our head to our divinity and that of everything in the Universe, we open up a diagonal path past the blocks that seem to be in our way.

But our inner agendas dissuade us from this practice of surrender, instead we practice half-heartedly, comfortable and familiar with our own limitations. Our limits begin to define us rather than our radiance liberating us.

Question: How are you going to bring/more Shakti and Bhakti into your life?
