Back of Beyond Kahandamodara is a beautiful remote destination on the south coast of Sri Lanka, with deserted beaches and an African savannah feel of wild open spaces. From the yoga shala, carefully constructed using lots of recycled materials, you can hear the roar of the ocean and bird song.
The 28 of us stayed in spacious comfortable rooms, with Ayurvedic treatments which relaxed us at night. Back of Beyond allows you to feel a million miles away from the stresses and strains of the world and #Retreat into an inner healing space.
About the Retreat
The Retreat was about conscious communication not only with others but most importantly with ourselves. The tone of the Retreat was to make every minute meaningful and conscious, right from what we said to the deep listening and inner silence that is found in nature’s symphony. So we could hear the whisper of our soul.
Our teacher Shiv Charan Singh, was an amazing channel for the teachings, He transmitted the wisdom of the course with seamless ease. We learnt, we laughed, we felt and we left lighter, with a determination to keep being conscious especially in our communication to create a more harmonious tomorrow.
About the Food
The food at Kahandamodara was a highlight, with fresh fruit salads, amazing local buffalo curd and traditional Sri Lankan breakfasts. Every morning we got a new fresh juice like sour sop and king coconut water. Lunch was traditional rice and curry with locally grown veggies. Herbal teas were served at break with a local sweet like coconut jaggary pancakes. All meals were glutton free, sugar free and veggie. Instead kitual honey and millet flour or rice flour were used.
